It is hard to imagine that 3 years ago I was an overweight homeschooling mom who just had my fourth baby. The last pregnancy was physically exhausting. I was aching in every part of my body due to a fall I took. I was close to 190 lbs. on the day she was born. The heaviest I had ever been in my life.
Kalena spent her first week and a half in NICU, the most horrifying experience of my life. She developed an infection that caused her fever to peak on the third day. She was rushed by ambulance to a hospital in Highland, 45 minutes away from me. Walking out of that hospital empty handed was the hardest thing I had done. I cried so hard walking down that hallway to the exit door. No wheelchair, no baby, just me and my husband and a bag of dirty laundry.
I spent time each day journaling and praying feverently during her stay and after she came home. I sat right next to her almost all day stroking her feet and reading my bible. I admit it was hard to stay faithful during that time. It would have been easy to get angry at God and question my faith. I remained strong and through His mercy, she recovered faster than the doctors could explain.
I learned a lot about myself during that time. Kalena was the starting point of the new Angela. I was determined to take better care of myself so I could be there for my children.
With the help of my husband, Fernando, 6 weeks after Kalena was born we began our physical transformations. In a year I became the fit woman I never thought I could be.
It’s been much more than physical. I feel empowered now. Nothing is too hard for me when I lean on my God. He has been my rock and my strong tower. I am able to take care of my family better than I ever have before. My family is rarely sick.
This is my passion. To teach other women how to accomplish this in their own lives. The journey is lifelong but so worth it.
This is my story.
